This collection of clips was the last major video work i did before I started my IT career,
Colin Webb Showreel
Colin Webb is a remarkable communicator and his scripts were so easy to follow and create content for, I decided to leave the freelance market when he kindly offered me a post. I worked with him for 3 really productive years and had a great time with a great team.
Interactive Cyprus
This was used for an interactive CD-ROM for the Cyprus Tourist board.
It must of worked, because I went the year after.
Lovely Country.
Guinness Ice
For the launch of the newly released Guinness Ice brand, I designed these graphics for a video wall. Basically Guinness in a bottle from the fridge. With a widget.
Guinness Video Wall
Some more stuff for the launch, suggesting that bottled Guinness from the fridge was a natural evolution of the brand.
Juggler Logo Video opener
This was created for a haulage firm whose charming logo I brought to life with Cinema 4D. It was also an excuse to use the newly released volumetric lighting capability that Maxon had just added to C4D.
Medialink Intro
Corporate intro segment. I did a lot of these....
Action 2000 Intro
Business awareness campaign warning of the impending doomsday scenario to hit the planet at the turn of the millennium.
Must of been successful, because my Microwave was fine in the morning.
Barclays Four Decades to Remember Intro
Conference opener, my homage to Pathé but with the Barclays eagle instead of a chicken. They didn't seem to mind...
Volkswagen 1974 montage
A little retro fun.
The interesting thing about this job was that all the artwork was scanned from original prints supplied by the image library and then composited and edited completely in After Effects 5.5 which was a very slow painful process. Fascinating though.
Blimey, the 70's were grim!
BAC Intro
Quality, Craftsmanship and Service was the strap line for this Double Glazing company.
Now no longer trading....
AIA Intro
Agencies just loved wordy fly throughs during this period.
Unfortunately kinetosis was not one of them....
ZomaJet Product Animatics
Before I got into Cinema4D for my 3d work, I used a package called Specular Infini-D. It was a bit basic but it got me hooked. Still managed to get quite a realistic rendering of this medical device which I had to build with the primitive toolset.
FYI It was a needle-less injection system for administering insulin to diabetic children. It fired the medicine through the subcutaneous layer of the skin at high pressure.
Totally California - cITV
This was my second broadcast job for cITV, by Celandine productions.
I was supposed to be going out and edit this show on location but, surprise surprise, ended up editing this at home due to budget restraint. Planet24 sent over a Sony BVW-70 Betacam SP deck over and I basically edited this in my bedroom over a week. Did the title sequence too.
Gary Lineker's Golden Boots - BBC
I am not a fan of football, so this was an interesting assignment. Did the title sequence and offline edited 3 of the seven episodes.
Met the man himself and he signed the book to accompany the series for me.
Unfortunately he put my name in there too, so I couldn't sell it.
You can still get it on amazon though...
Zenneca Touchdown
"The IQ Technology improves spray retention, herbicide uptake and translocation of the active ingredient throughout the weed. At the same time, it minimises potential phytotoxicity to Roundup Ready crops because the glyphosate salt and adjuvants are very gentle to epidermal cells on leaf surfaces."
Nailed it.
Everest Info Graphic
I was given two still frames from the shoot and told we need 25 seconds of fill to voiceover.
4 hours later I'd finished.
American Express Video Wall
Not to say sometimes briefs can be a little to literal, "Time is money".
I basically filmed everyones watch in the office, and the receptionist let me film her eye in extreme closeup.
No expense was made for the making of this segment.
Maverick Jeans Video Wall
This was produced for an in store video display for this particular brand of jeans.
Just good old fashioned digital rostrum of the supplied artwork.
At over 5 minutes long it took my old PowerMac G3 4 hours to render.
CTE Solutions Intro
I came up with this potted history of mass communications for this new telecoms company.
Unfortunately their history was a little shorter.
Metropolitan Police Training Film
This was quite a sobering project to work on as it used actual footage from RTA's. As it was for internal use it was quite graphic.
Effexor
A masterstroke from this pharmaceutical company's marketing department involved the ever so slightly infringement of a particular franchise.
Fortunately its a parody and fell under the fair use exclusion.
I was quite pleased with it.
Dynasafe Test Video
This was the one that got away.
I did this for a pitch trying to get the commission for this company's corporate video. I was fresh out of college and of course they were not going to entrust their money with an unknown entity.
Lesson learned.
